If you are a developer, a designer, a creative technologist, an artist or cultural professional and you’re interested in innovation and making something amazing in just 24 hours, then this is the event for you.

Culture Hack Scotland is a 24 hr event where digital and design talent work together with cultural organisations to make new and exciting innovation prototypes.

This year Culture Hack Scotland takes place April 27/28 in Glasgow with the theme Data, Sound+Vision as part of Sync, the new prototyping and cultural innovation programme for Scotland.

Last year’s inaugural CHS was probably the most productive event of its type ever seen with the creation of 30 amazing projects inspired from datasets sourced from cultural organisations across Scotland.

This years event launches on Friday evening with introductory talks with some inspirational keynote speakers from the arts, creative technology and data sectors. Details soon to be released.

After the quick talks on the Friday evening, the hack commences!

The venue will be the beautiful SocietyM in central Glagsow - an inspiring space, comfy seats, mighty bandwidth and plenty of power sockets! And it’s a hotel too, CitizenM is right above the venue, so if you want to do the hack with a little luxury, just book in.

Developers and designers will have Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch provided. If you are signed up for the full hack experience and intend to stay through the night, there will be male and female showers available.

About the ticket types

The Hack

The full 24 hour hack event is for developers and designers to come and work with the data to make innovative new culture-related projects.

Developer: If you're a creative technologist who knows how to programme then get yourself signed up! Whether you’re a hack day veteran or a new to it, all you need is an interest in making exciting new things with cultural data.

Designer: If you’re a graphic, web, mobile, game, product or service designer. We need you! A great opportunity to come and meet, and work with, other creative technologists on exciting new projects.

Culture Track

If you are a cultural professional and want to get involved but have never programmed or made anything before then this ticket is for you. 

The Culture Track offers a unique opportunity to come and learn how to make things yourself at the Learn to Code workshop at 2pm Saturday afternoon. 

Plus, with this ticket, you have the fantastic offer to get insight into the hack process and developments with an invitation to attend the Friday night event launch and the Saturday afternoon ‘show and tell’ of all the hacks made.  And we've made it a nominal paid ticket to ensure attendance for what is a very limited capacity event.
